Cabinetry as
Furniture; A Wise Investment
Why is cabinetry made
as furniture a good value?
You design the piece
(with assistance from our certified designer) to fit your needs
and space. The clear advantage is that you simply buy only what
you need and desire. It is exactly what you wanted! Cabinetry
and furniture from Kitchens By Design, Inc. is built by
precision craftspeople and less expensive as well.
Why not just build it
in?
Building free-standing
pieces allows you to take it with you when you move and pass it
down as heirloom pieces. Fine furniture is much more valuable if
it can be moved, even into another room.
What pieces of
furniture do most people order?
Most requests call for
entertainment centers, bookcases, desks (particularly for
computers), and armoires. Also possible are buffets and china
cabinets for dining rooms, end tables for bedrooms and living
rooms and TV storage cabinetry of all types. Kitchens By
Design, Inc. can design a piece of furniture to match or
compliment existing furniture, either old or new, creating an
heirloom made to your specifications!
What materials are
available?
Wood is the primary
material used in furniture. Oak, cherry, birch, maple, pine,
mahogany, walnut, and ash are some of the most popular choices.
You can choose your wood, or woods, and stain colors from a vast
selection ranging from lights (washed whites and beiges or
pastel stains) to rich, deep colors. Custom stain colors are
available in all woods. We can also have your cabinetry painted,
even in a custom color. Our paint is specially applied, coat by
coat and then allowed to dry in ovens for a chip-free finish.
This process is more expensive than staining, and is permanent.
There is never a need to repaint. Another choice is laminates.
These are wonderful to work with, have a great range in color,
texture and style and are easy to take care of!
What about knobs,
pulls and hinges?
Kitchens By Design,
Inc. can help
you find the unique cabinetry hardware you desire! Handles or
pulls range from hand-made porcelain in every color of the
rainbow, to brass, chrome, lucite, wood, traditional,
contemporary, Corian, Fountainhead and more! In fact, the list
is endless! Hinges are usually brass, antique brass, pewter or
chrome, or invisible, hidden hinges. We’ll be happy to assist
you with recommendations for style and function!
How long does it take
to have my furniture made?
Normally, a custom
piece of furniture takes 6 – 12 weeks from the time you order
it. Remember, it is being made for you and requires a little
time. Delivery to your home and set-up is always included in Kitchens
By Design, Inc.’s pricing. There are never any extra,
hidden charges.
